Regional conference of the Thuringia state parents' association

In June, the Thuringia State Parents' Representative Council held its first regional conference in the district town of Altenburg to intensify the dialog with parents, school authorities, the state education authority, the school catering network and politicians. The event featured controversial discussions on the situation at schools in Thuringia and focused on topics such as the teaching situation, teacher supply and school catering. VielfaltMenü was the only caterer invited to the event and, as one of the leading providers of nursery and school catering, contributed its expertise and many years of experience to the discussions.

Together with the school catering network, Stephan Werner from the VielfaltMenü customer service team in Thuringia pointed out current challenges: school catering is still under pressure due to the rising cost of food and energy and the availability of food. And implementing the standards of the German Nutrition Society (DGE) also requires a great deal of expertise. The value of a healthy and balanced diet in schools was emphasized: A varied school catering ensures performance and learning success and thus the children's future opportunities.

VielfaltMenü's pioneering role in implementing the DGE standards was particularly emphasized. The company bases its menu design on the DGE guidelines and offers a DGE-certified menu line. Wherever possible, VielfaltMenü also uses regional and seasonal foods as well as wholemeal and organic products. This progressive approach was very well received by the conference participants.

"Taking part in the regional conference of the Thuringia state parents' association was an important step towards promoting dialog with parents and other interest groups and jointly highlighting practical solutions," summarizes Jan Englert, Managing Director Thuringia of VielfaltMenü GmbH.

The Thuringia state parents' association also drew a positive conclusion from the conference and reaffirmed that they will continue to campaign for sensible solutions at a political level, particularly with regard to school meals, to ensure that good school meals remain affordable. As a member of the Association of German School and Daycare Caterers, VielfaltMenü will also continue to campaign for optimal conditions for the provision of meals for daycare children and schoolchildren.
